When I was in high school I would carry a small bag with my wallet, keys, phone, and probably some chapstick. Now that I’m in college, the purses I buy have gotten bigger and bigger. Being out all day means adding more and more things that I might need to my purse.
Sometimes I feel like I carry around too much, but I’m always prepared. I’ve compiled a list of what I think are the 11 most important things to carry in your purse.
1. Phone, Wallet, Keys
These things are obvious, but I thought I would list them anyway. You won’t get very far without them, haha.
Like Adam Sandler said in his new song, “Good things come in threes, need my phone, wallet, keys”. If you haven’t heard it look up Adam Sandler phone, wallet, keys. It is hilarious.
2. A charger
I always keep a phone charger in my purse at all times. You never know when you’ll need a charge. Not having a charger when you need it is annoying. That sounds like a classic millennial thing to say, but seriously when it comes to safety it’s really important.
You never know when you might need to use GPS or call someone for help. It’s always a good thing to carry an extra phone charger in your purse.
3. A mini makeup bag
We all have those days where we don’t have enough time to apply a whole face of makeup before running out the door. Having a small bag of the essentials will help on those mornings. Even if you have time in the morning, it’s a good thing to have in your purse so you can reapply throughout the day if needed.
4. A sample of perfume
Perfume is something you don’t really need to reapply throughout the day, but it doesn’t hurt to have a sample on you. Just in case you forget to put it on or you feel like refreshing your scent mid-day. Next time you go out to get your favorite perfume ask for a few samples.
5. A notepad and pen
This is a great thing to always carry in your purse. You never know when you’ll need to give someone your information or jot down something important for later. We have our phones, but just in case it’s acting up or you want to do things the old fashioned way keep a notepad and pen with you.
6. A stain removal pen
One of the worst things is spilling coffee or food on your clothes when you are out and there is nothing you can do about it. If you are at work or school or just out and about this is a great thing that will take a stain out real quick.
I don’t go anywhere without my Tide to-go stick. It seriously works like magic!
7. Mace
Always keep safe and have mace with you. Hopefully you will never have to use it, but it’s better to be safe than sorry.
8. Some cash
This is something I have to get better at, haha. With cards, Apple Pay, and all the other cashless things everyone uses we never think to have cash on us. So many places still don’t have credit card machines or don’t accept tips on cards. You never want to run into a scenario where you need cash but don’t have any.
One time my boyfriend and I missed our exit and right ahead was a toll booth. There was no way to turn around or get anywhere without going through the toll. Luckily we had cash on us so we didn’t have to pay a fine. Always carry cash so you never run into a scenario like that!
9. Travel size aspirin/ibuprofen
This is a simple thing I always like to have with me. I don’t like getting a headache and not having ibuprofen. Keep a travel size of this in your purse so you don’t have to go through your day with a headache. You can get a travel size Advil here.
10. Chapstick
I don’t go anywhere without my favorite chapstick. Having chapped lips and not having chapstick to apply is a horrible feeling. I have multiple chapsticks in all my purses, haha! Maybe it’s just me, but I really hate that feeling.
11. Mints
Coffee breath is no joke! Having some mints or gum in your purse at all times is a must. You never want to be heading to a meeting or work without refreshing your breath!
12. Floss picks
Lastly, keep a few floss picks in your purse in case you get something in your teeth during lunch. It’s good to keep these with you so you don’t have to go through the rest of the day with something in your tooth.
