This post is about ways to prepare for the spring semester.
The beginning of the spring semester is almost here! The time of awkward questions from family members and living in your high school bedroom are coming to an end. I’m going to share with you some of the things I do to prepare for the spring semester.
Spring Semester Tips:
1. Update your school supplies
This could be getting a new planner, notebooks, etc. If you’re able to reuse your notebooks or folders from the fall semester, that’s great! I personally love to grab some new pens and composition books.
A great tip to keep organized is color code your classes and label the notebooks and folders. For example, use a yellow notebook and folder for writing class. Then label them with the course name and number. Adding the date and time for the class, and professors name, email, and office hours to the first page in the notebook is helpful too.
2. Set a schedule for yourself
To set yourself up for a successful semester, plan your weekly schedule. For example, plan when you’ll go the the gym, the library, when you’ll have personal time for yourself and more.
This is really helpful especially if you have a part time job. In order to keep on top of your school work it’s really important to create a schedule that works for you.
3. Double check your financial aid
You don’t want any surprises on the first day of classes. Double check your account that the semester is paid for and you’re still enrolled in the correct classes. Some colleges have “start of term tasks” so make sure that is complete too.

4. Get some new clothes
Christmas probably already helped with this, but if there is anything else you need/want, get it. If you’ve had your eye on something just treat yourself to it. It’ll make you feel good about yourself and that’s a great way to start the semester.
5. Organize your dorm
There is nothing better then starting a new semester with a clean space. My room is always a wreck after finals week. My desk drawers are stuffed full of old tests and syllabi. I know we all do it! Before the semester starts is the best time to get your room under control.
Wipe down all surfaces, change your sheets, and organize your closet. You won’t have the time when the semester gets started.
6. Map out your classes
The worst thing is running to class the first day because you don’t know where it is. Take time before the first day to look at what building your classes are in and where they are on campus. This upcoming semester I have a class in a building I’ve never been to before so I’m going to make sure I know how to get there so I’m not late the first day!
I hope these tips help you prepare to have a great spring semester!
